Waiver Required: In order to participate in any and all Kimberly PTA-sponsored programs, events, and activities, all families must submit the California State PTA: Parent's Approval, Student, Family, and Participation Waiver. This form is filled out once for your entire family and covers you for every PTA event during the 2023-2024 school year. This information will be verified at check-in for events. Save time and fill it out online! Without this waiver, you and your student will not be able to participate in running club, garden club, Kampout, Fall Festival, or any PTA-sponsored activity.
RUSD Board Approved Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering in your student's classroom or helping out on campus for PTA during the school day, you must be an RUSD board approved volunteer. Instructions to apply and required paperwork can be found on the District Volunteer Application site. New this year, if you plan to chaperone a field trip, you must also provide fingerprint clearance. You may go to the District Office to be fingerprinted.
3rd-5th grade students are invited to participate in the Mt. Sac Cross-Country Invitational. Download the registration form or pick one up in the office. The cost is $15 to register to run with the team and an additional $15 for the t-shirt. The T-shirt is optional. It is a navy blue shirt with white lettering.
News and Upcoming Events
AUGUST 9 - SEPTEMBER 16
The annual PTA Membership Drive kicked off on August 9 and ran through September 16. We are proud to report we have 423 PTA members! We didn't reach 450 members for the students to vote if Principal Dyerly would kiss a pig or be slimed, but there's still a chance one of those may happen! Stay tuned. We had 4 classes reach 80% membership and 11 classes earn a Pizza Party! See the Membership page for more information.
SEPTEMBER 5 - NOVEMBER 16
All TK-5th grade students are welcome to sign up for running club. Running club will be every Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:25 - 7:40 am. Worried about your TK or Kinder student making it to class from the track? We will have a volunteer walk the students down to the classrooms. If you are interested in becoming a Running Club volunteer, you will need to be an RUSD-board approved volunteer and a PTA member. Sign up today, https://goo.by/oQreu.
FRUGAL FRIGATE BOOK FAIR
Stop in to local bookstore, Frugal Frigate, during the week and mention Kimberly Elementary. 20% of proceeds will be given back to Kimberly PTA through a store credit. The PTA uses the store credit to purchase books for Kimberly Elementary. Last year, the PTA purchased books off teachers' wish lists and high AR-level books, Caldecott and Newbery winners, and other RUSD-approved books for the Kimberly Elementary Library.
The PTA Kimberly Kampout is a fun tradition and experience that is free for all Cubs, Kimberly Staff and their families. This year marks the 14th annual Kampout! The Kimberly PTA invites you to join us for a BBQ dinner, a movie under the stars which will be selected by our 5th graders, s'mores for dessert, and pastries and refreshments the next morning. Staying overnight is not required. Pre-register today. More information can be found on the Kampout page.
WALK AND ROLL TO SCHOOL DAY
The 27th annual National Walk and Roll to school day is October 4. Walk to school from your own house or meet volunteers at Prospect Park and walk to school with your friends and family. A police escort will be provided for safety.

Ice Cream Social: The annual PTA Ice Cream Social was a hit! Members from the National Charity League volunteered and scooped so much ice cream! We can't thank them enough for volunteering their time at our event. Kimberly Cub families enjoyed hanging out with old friends and meeting new families. The live music from The Marvels put the cherry on top!
New Faces Around Campus: We have some new faces around campus. Kimberly welcomes Miss Kishimoto (Kindergarten), Mrs. Sternberg (1st Grade), and Mr. Arellanes (Special Ed)!
1st Day of School: There were lots of smiles as friends greeted each other with hugs on the first day of school. Families met up by Gate 2 after school to hang out with friends and grab a Kona Ice. Principal Dyerly kicked off Back to School night by introducing our amazing teachers and provided information on Title I. PTA held the first association meeting of the year where the association adopted the programs and budget for the year.
TK/Kinder Orientation: TK and Kindergarten students were welcomed to Kimberly Elementary at TK/K Orientation on August 8 by Principal Dyerly. After a short presentation in the MPR, the parents got to meet their student's teacher and learn what to expect this year.
This year there are two TK classes, an Early Bird and a Later Gator class, and two full day Kindergarten classes.
Welcome Back Staff Lunch: PTA hosted a lunch for teachers on Monday, August 7, to welcome them back to school! We appreciate our Kimberly Staff and look forward to another great year!
